The Giants are looking at a very real possibility of being one of the worst teams in the NFL and contending for the 1st overall pick. If this were to be the case, you can expect there to be coaching and front office changes. Their defensive front will continue to be the strong point of their roster, but if their offense cannot start to be at least an average unit, this team will be in serious trouble.
Departures: The positive spin of being such a bad team is that they usually do not have to worry about losing too many good players in the offseason. The Giants only parted ways with QB Drew Lock, EDGE Azeez Ojulari, LB Isaiah Simmons, CB Adoree Jackson, and SAF Jason Pinnock. All of these players underperformed in their time as a Giant and will be relatively easy to replace.
Additions: The Giants brought in two quarterbacks to help mentor their 1st round pick. QBs Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are great veterans to have in the room. They also signed OT James Hudson, EDGE Chauncey Golston, DL Roy Robertson-Harris, LB Chris Board, CB Paulson Adebo, and SAF Jevon Holland to multi-year contracts. Their defense should look like a refreshed unit in 2025 with signs of progression.
Draft Selections: In the 1st round of the draft, the Giants took Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter. Carter was my No. 1 player in the 2025 class and they got him at the 3rd pick. While it may be a crowded edge room in New York, it is a good problem to have. They traded back into the 1st round to take Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. Trading back into the 1st was probably bad value and use of assets but drafting a QB was somewhat of a necessity. Toledo DT Darius Alexander, Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo, and Purdue OL Marcus Mbow are other rookies I expect to make a serious impact on this team.
Season Predictions: In Week 1, the Giants play on the road against the Commanders and then go on the road for Week 2 against the Cowboys. There first home game comes in Week 3 on Sunday Night Football against the Chiefs. New York ends September at home against the Chargers. The Giants start the season 0-4.
In October, they start on the road against the Saints, play host to the Eagles on Thursday Night Football, hit the road to play the Broncos, and end the month with another matchup against the Eagles in Philadelphia. The Giants go 1-3 in October.
The Giants kick off November with a home game against the 49ers, go to Chicago to play the Bears, host the Packers, and travel to play the Lions in Week 12 to end November. The Giants go 1-3 in November.
The final stretch of the season starts with a road game on Monday Night Football against the Patriots before a late Week 14 bye. After the bye, the Giants host the Commanders and Vikings in consecutive weeks, go on the road to play the Raiders, and finish the season at home against the Cowboys. The Giants go 2-3 to end the season.
Final Thoughts: I have the New York Giants finishing the 2025 season with a record of 4-13. Yet another terrible year for a team whose only bright spot is the defensive line. If Dart can sit for a year and develop behind a couple veteran QBs, he could be in line to take the job in 2026.
