The Dallas Cowboys need to make a playoff push in 2025 if they want to keep their current core and fans happy. With Washington and Philadelphia at the peak of their powers, Dallas cannot afford to fall far behind.

The offseason has become a bit of a weak spot every year for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. It seems as though it would greatly benefit the organization if Jones took a backseat in the daily operations of the team to a traditional general manager. Before dissecting the departures, it is worth mentioning that they have not get an extension done with Micah Parsons and the discourse around that situation has been rather negative.

Trades: Dallas was active in trade discussions throughout the offseason. The main one being acquiring WR George Pickens in exchange for a 2026 3rd rounder and 2027 5th rounder. Jerry Jones added Kenneth Murray Jr. from the Titans via trade to help bolster the linebacker room. They also managed to trade for QB Joe Milton in exchange for a future late round pick.

Departures: The Cowboys lost a franchise legend in IOL Zack Martin to retirement. In free agency, they parted ways with QB Cooper Rush, RB Rico Dowdle, WR Brandin Cooks, EDGE Chauncey Golston, EDGE Demarcus Lawrence, DL Carlos Watkins, LB Eric Kendricks, LB Nick Vigil, CB Jourdan Lewis, and CB Amani Oruwariye. Numerous key pieces to their team last year left to find greener grass.

Additions: Jerry Jones did not manage to bring in a single player on a multi-year contract, only signing one-year deals with RB Miles Sanders, RB Javonte Williams, IOL Robert Jones, EDGE Dante Fowler Jr., and EDGE Payton Turner.

Season Predictions: They start the season with the first game of the NFL in Philadelphia facing the Eagles on Thursday Night Football. The Cowboys follow that with a home game against the Giants, travel to play the Bears, and host the Packers on Sunday Night Football to end the month. The Cowboys will start the season with a record of 2-2.

Dallas opens October with two road games against the Jets and Panthers before returning home to host the Commanders. They end the month in Denver against the Broncos. I have the Cowboys going 2-2 this month.

November starts in Dallas on Monday Night Football against the Cardinals before a Week 10 bye. Since they are the Cowboys and the NFL force feeds us their games, they come out of the bye with another Monday Night Football game against the Raiders in Vegas. Then they play the Eagles at home and close the month with another primetime game on Thursday Night Football against the Chiefs. The Cowboys go 2-2 in November.

Week 14 is yet another primetime game for this middle of the pack team. This time, it is in Detroit against the Lions on Thursday Night Football. They then have ANOTHER PRIMETIME GAME at home on Sunday Night Football against the Vikings. They take a short prime time break with an afternoon game at home against the Chargers before getting back under the bright lights of national television on Christmas Day against the Commanders in the capital. They end the season back in New Jersey against the Giants. I have the Cowboys going 1-4 in this final stretch of games.

Final Thoughts: The Dallas Cowboys will finish the 2025 season 7-10. This lackluster record may be enough to spark a change either in the front office or to the nucleus of the roster. Either way, Dallas cannot afford to continue their mediocrity.
