School: Utah
Class: Junior
Position: OT
HT: 6’6
WT: 308 lbs
Background: Spencer Fano was a consensus 4-star offensive tackle in the 2023 class out of Spanish Fork, Utah. Fano was a top 50 player in the class and a top 10 player at the position. Spencer’s brother, Logan, is a defensive lineman at Utah and his sister, Shalyn, plays basketball at Utah Valley. Spencer also has 4 uncles that played in college or the NFL. Fano played for Timpview High School, where he was named an All-Valley selection. After his senior season, he was selected to participate in the All-American Bowl. Spencer Fano chose to stay home and play for Utah over Oregon, Michigan, and Clemson.
College: Fano came to Utah and made an immediate impact for the Utes. He was a Freshman All-American after starting 12 games, 11 being at left tackle. In 2024, Fano switched to right tackle full time. Fano was named an All-Academic selection. He was also an All-Big 12 First Team selection and was named an All-American by numerous outlets. Fano continued to play right tackle in 2025. He was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection again while getting more All-American recognition.
Strengths: Spencer Fano is an excellent mover for the offensive tackle position. He climbs to the second level of the defense as a run blocker so efficiently. He is an excellent lead blocker who can clear rushing lanes all by himself with his combination of speed and strength. He explodes out of his stance in the running game to run through defenders and quickly climb to the second level. As a pass protector, Fano has a strong punch to knock defenders back off their rush. Not only does his punch have power, but he fires with impeccable timing. He truly never lets the defender get settled in the phonebooth. His foundation is strong, allowing him to absorb power rushes. He has a wide base and makes sure to get low. Fano also plays with a bit of a mean streak, finishing defenders into the dirt and through the whistle.
Weaknesses: Fano plays a little light, just a hair over 300 pounds. This could cause a concern in terms of his ability to keep up with the strength of NFL rushes. His timing and power has gotten him to this point, but too often does Fano’s strike miss the chest of the defender. His punch can occasionally get too high, opening up his chest.
Conclusion: Spencer Fano is a dynamic athlete at the offensive tackle position. He has all of the movement skills to succeed in the open field. He needs to add more muscle mass to his frame to comfortably handle NFL defensive lineman, which is something he can do in a single offseason. Spencer will be an immediate plus-starter and can potentially turn into one of the best at the position in the NFL.
