School: Baylor
Class: Redshirt Senior
Position: TE
HT: 6’4
WT: 240 lbs
Background: Michael Trigg was a top 150 recruit out of Tampa, Florida in the 2021 recruiting class. Trigg was a top 5 tight end and top 25 player in Florida. As a senior at Carrollwood Day High School, Trigg had 30 catches for 586 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also played defensive end as a junior, posting 83 tackles, 24.5 TFLs, and 11 sacks. Trigg committed to play for USC out of high school over the likes of Georgia, Florida, and others.
College: Trigg was used in a reserve role at USC in 2021 before transferring to Ole Miss. Trigg spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Ole Miss. Michael played in 3 games in 2023 before sitting out to redshirt. Before the 2024 season, Trigg transferred to Baylor, where he had a breakout campaign. He caught 30 receptions for 395 yards and 3 touchdowns. These numbers were good enough to get Trigg named to the Second Team All-Big 12 by the coaches. 2025 was Trigg’s best season in college. He was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection and a Mackey Award finalist after tallying 50 receptions for 694 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Strengths: Trigg provides a rare blend of size and speed for the position. His athletic testing is eye-popping and will vault him up the draft boards. He is a very savvy route runner with the ability to get in and out of breaks with ease. Trigg has excellent movement skills for his size. He has fluid strides that eat up yards to put defenders on their heels immediately. Trigg is a natural hands catcher who hauls in difficult catches on a regular basis. He is comfortable catching footballs outside his frame with a large catch radius. After completing the catch, Trigg does well to turn himself into a runner and gash the defense with his legs.
Weaknesses: Trigg does not play with a high motor. He can be seen giving up on plays or not running the full route if he knows he isn’t getting the ball. This lack of effort can also be seen as a run blocker. He is not always blocking with the effort you want to see from a tight end on the line of scrimmage.
Conclusion: Michael Trigg is an athletic specimen with the frame to match. He does so many things so well to provide for a matchup nightmare. His effort is often brought into question both as a blocker and a route runner. His numbers don’t lie as the Mackey Award finalist knows how to make an impact on every game.
