School: UCONN

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: WR

HT: 6’0

WT: 185 lbs

Background: Skyler Bell was a low 3-star recruit out of the Bronx. Bell did not get to have a senior season, but in his sophomore and junior seasons for The Taft School in Connecticut, he totaled 700 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. Out of high school, Bell committed to Wisconsin over Iowa, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

College: Bell redshirted in 2021 as a freshman for the Badgers. In 2022, he had 30 receptions for 444 yards and 5 touchdowns. His numbers in 2023 took a bit of a dip as he had 38 receptions for 296 yards and 1 touchdown. Bell transferred back home to play for UCONN and immediately became their best offensive weapon. In 2024, Bell had 50 receptions for 860 yards and 5 touchdowns. 2025 was the year Bell burst onto the national scene. He was named an All-American by several outlets after posting 101 receptions for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Strengths: Skyler Bell is a savvy route runner with the footwork to win in a variety of ways. He gets in and out of breaks well, cutting sharply at the break to create separation. Bell excels at changing his speed and tempo to shake off defenders. Bell is most productive against zone coverage, where he can backdoor the second level and sit in the soft spots of the coverage. Bell has the technique to stack cornerbacks in the deep areas of the field, gaining leverage easily. He explodes off the line to instantly put the defender on his heels. He has quick twitch and explosiveness that make it difficult to keep up with him.

Weaknesses: Bell has a leaner frame; bigger cornerbacks give him issues off the line. He is susceptible to getting jammed close to the line of scrimmage. Bell has issues with concentration drops. He seems to have too much time and thinks too much about making the play, leading to a drop. He tries to turn upfield to become a runner before completing the process of a catch. Skyler struggles with catching footballs outside of his frame. He relies too much on catching with his body.

Conclusion: Skyler Bell is a dynamic playmaker who can create space in a phonebooth. Without elite speed and consistent hands, there are limitations on the player he can become, but he is certainly a dangerous playmaker.
