School: Iowa
Class: Redshirt Senior
Position: IOL
HT: 6’3
WT: 300 lbs
Background: Logan Jones was recruited out of Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa as a defensive tackle. Jones was a top 25 defensive tackle in the class of 2020. Jones was named lineman of the year and first team all-state as a senior. He was also named first team all-state as a junior for his contributions on both sides of the ball. Logan also won the state title in shot put and discus as a junior. Logan Jones committed to Iowa over Minnesota and Iowa State.
College: Jones did not play for the Hawkeyes in 2020 and missed 2021 due to injury. He earned the Next Man In Award after filling in at center for every game of the season. In 2023, he was named Third Team All-Big 10 after starting 12 games at center. He was First Team All-Big 10 in 2024 after starting every game for the Hawkeyes. 2025 was more of the same from Jones. He was member of an offensive line that was a finalist for the Outland Trophy. He was a unanimous All-American and a First Team All-Big 10 selection.
Strengths: Logan Jones is an elite pass protector with heavy and quick hands. He overwhelms nose tackles with his quick hands and punch timing. He delivers the initial contact early in the rep to establish control. He keeps the defender in front of him by keeping his shoulder square and constantly firing his hands into the chest. He sits low in his stance, playing with a good pad level to win the leverage battle. He anchors into the ground to absorb power well. His ability to absorb prevents him from lunging into contact and overextending himself. Jones is a smart player and quick processor who can diagnose stunts and twists at the line easily. He plays with a nastiness that an offensive line needs to assert dominance. Jones plays with light feet, getting to the second level and finding his landmarks efficiently.
Weaknesses: Jones does not have the recovery strength to claw back into a play when he is beat on the first step. His run blocking leaves some to be desired. He has the burst and athleticism to climb to the second level, but he does not generate the push to completely displace defenders. Lastly, Jones is an older prospect. Being 25 by the time his rookie season commences, he will need to provide an instant impact to his team. He does not have the room for growth or untapped potential that a typical rookie has.
Conclusion: Logan Jones is an elite pass protector who is ready to contribute as a rookie. As an older prospect, we know who Jones is and his untapped potential is relatively limited. He can come in and instantly command the respect of his linemates.
