School: Iowa

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: OT

HT: 6’5

WT: 316 lbs

Background: Gennings Dunker was recruited as an interior offensive lineman out of Lena-Winslow High School in Illinois. Dunker was a top 15 player in the state in the 2021 class. Gennings earned all-state honors as a junior and was named first team all-conference on both offense and defense as a junior. Dunker also played basketball and was a track & field athlete in high school. He chose to play for Iowa early in his high school timeline and never entertained other schools.

College: In his first season with the Hawkeyes, he was forced to redshirt due to injury. In 2022, Dunker appeared in 11 games including a start. He became the starting right tackle in 2023, earning All-Big 10 honorable mention. He received All-Big 10 Second Team honors in 2024 after being a brick wall at right tackle. In every year at Iowa, Dunker earned Academic All-Big 10 honors. Gennings was an All-Big 10 Third Team and All-American selection by several outlets in 2025 after starting all 13 games at right tackle.

Strengths: Gennings Dunker is a good mover. He gets out on his legs on angle blocks and can seal the edge on pulls to the outside. He climbs to the second level so efficiently and generates so much power with each step. He puts linebackers on their back in open space as a run blocker. His leg drive is second to none at the center position. He fires out of his stance with explosiveness into the pads of defenders. He can drive piles forward in the run game to create rushing lanes between the tackles. He has a firm anchor in pass protection to absorb bull rushes from those powerful defensive tackles.

Weaknesses: Dunker does not have the length of an NFL tackle. He will likely be forced to play guard at the next level. Dunker can be seen overextending himself in pass protection, giving up leverage and losing balance. He is not the quickest processor at the line of scrimmage. Twists from the defensive line can give Dunker trouble.

Conclusion: Gennings Dunker is a special player who provides versatility to the offensive line. He can play any position on the line and become a Pro Bowler there. He is an athletic lineman with plenty of pop. He should be looked at as a quality Day 2 option who can win a starting job as a rookie.
