School: Arkansas

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: IOL

HT: 6’5

WT: 325 lbs

Background: Fernando Carmona was recruited as a tight end out of Las Vegas High School in Nevada. He was named a second team all-league player in 2019. Carmona also played basketball and tennis for Las Vegas. He is the son of a former All-Mountain West first baseman in his father, Fernando. Additionally, his older brother, George, played for  UNLV. Fernando chose to play for San Jose State out of high school.

College: Carmona also played basketball and tennis for Las Vegas. Carmona appeared in one game as a true freshman in 2021 before making the transition to left tackle in 2022, where he started every game for the Spartans. In addition to his success on the field as a redshirt freshman, Carmona was an All-Academic Mountain West selection. Carmona was back in a starting role in 2023 and earned All-Mountain West honorable mention honors after playing all over the offensive line. Fernando transferred to Arkansas ahead of the 2024 campaign. He was voted All-SEC Third Team by the coaches in his first season with the Razorbacks as a swiss army knife on their offensive line. After starting in every game for the Razorbacks in 2025, he was an All-SEC Second Team selection.

Strengths: Fernando Carmona is a versatile offensive lineman who has played both tackle and guard during his collegiate career. He is a quick processor who can read and react to stunts and twists at the line of scrimmage quickly. Carmona has nice footwork in pass pro sets. He glides on his feet to keep his assignment in front of him. He does well to get low and play with optimal pad level. His punches have serious power that knock defenders off their rush. His hands are also accurate, landing in the chest and rarely being off target. He has strong grip strength to keep defenders occupied in the phone booth while he pushes piles forward in the run game.

Weaknesses: He does not have the most optimal frame for the offensive line. He has short arms that prevent him from playing tackle. He does not have the long speed to be a lead blocker in the run game. Out in space, he doesn’t have the athleticism to hit landmarks. When he is beat on the first step, he does not have the quickness to recover and get back in the fight. He is susceptible to getting beat between gaps where he does not completely seal it off.

Conclusion: Fernando Carmona will be on the roster bubble in the NFL. He can be looked at as a depth interior offensive lineman who can compete for an active roster spot as a rookie. He can provide meaningful experience as a career backup.
