School: Washington

Class: Redshirt Junior

Position: WR

HT: 6’4

WT: 210 lbs

Background: Denzel Boston was a 3-star wide receiver out of South Hill, Washington in the 2022 recruiting class. Boston was a top 15 player in Washington and top 150 wide receiver in his class. Boston caught 105 balls for 1,572 yards and 23 touchdowns throughout his high school career for Emerald Ridge. As a senior, he was an all-league first team member. Denzel Boston chose to stay home and play for Washington over the likes of Arizona, Washington State, and Arizona State.

College: Boston redshirted as a freshman in 2022. He did not receive significant reps until 2024, when he was an honorable mention All-Big 10 selection with 807 yards and 9 touchdowns. In 2025, Boston was an All-Big 10 Third Team selection after recording 62 receptions for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Strengths: Denzel Boston is a savvy route runner with the ability to create separation in a variety of ways. His breaks at the top of his routes are so sharp and unpredictable that it makes it difficult for defensive backs to read his body language. He runs meaningful routes with creative footwork. He has a strong upper half that allows him to go up and attack the football. He rips away contested balls from defenders with ease. Boston has a large catch radius that creates a friendly target for the quarterback. He consistently hauls in footballs thrown behind him and off target. He has sure hands, if the ball comes his way, he catches it. He has notably long strides that puts defenders on their heels immediately.

Weaknesses: Boston does not have the foot quickness or lateral agility to gain separation off the line. He also does not possess any significant burst off the line. Athletic and fluid corners will have success keeping up with him. Due to his lack of explosiveness, he struggles with bigger corners who match his physicality. Too many of his intermediate route stems round off, allowing cornerbacks to undercut the throw.

Conclusion: Denzel Boston is a strong prototypical X receiver who can be relied on to come down with contested catches and make explosive plays down the field. He combines his physical prowess with technically sound routes to create for a matchup nightmare. He does not have elite explosive athleticism, but he wins in other ways.
