Background: Caleb Lomu was a consensus 4-star offensive tackle out of Gilbert, Arizona. Lomu was a top 300 recruit in the 2023 class. Lomu played for Highland High School, where he won a state championship in 2021. He was named the BJ Media and Randall McDaniel Offensive Lineman of the Year. He was also named Arizona 6A Northeast Valley All-Region First Team. Lomu committed to Utah over Michigan, Cal, and Arizona.
College: Lomu utilized his redshirt in 2023 before becoming the starting left tackle for the Utes in 2024. In 2025, Lomu came back to start every game for the Utes at left tackle again. He garnered All-American recognition by multiple outlets while also being named an All-Big 12 First Team member.
Strengths: Lomu possesses elite burst off the line to explode into the pads of defenders. He moves well for his size. As a run blocker, he finds his landmarks well in zone rushing schemes. He pulls well to explode from his stance to the other side of the offensive line as a lead blocker. He plays with a mean streak that allows him to finish defenders into the ground and through the whistle. Lomu has quick hands and a powerful strike. His hand placement is spot on and his punch packs legitimate power. Lomu plays low with great pad level to maintain leverage through an entire rep.
Weaknesses: Lomu seems to lose coordination at times. It feels as if his hands move faster than his feet in open space, leading to missed punches and lunges. Lomu could also afford to add more muscle to his frame. He is right on the fence of 300 pounds, leaving room for muscle growth.
Conclusion: Caleb Lomu is one of the most complete offensive tackles in the 2026 NFL Draft class. He has the movement ability and technique to make any play on the field. He will go in Round1 of the draft and should be viewed as a Day 1 starter.
