School: Oregon State

Class: Senior

Position: RB

HT: 5’8

WT: 206 lbs

Background: Anthony Hankerson was a 3-star running back out of the Florida high school football powerhouse, St. Thomas Aquinas. Out of Boynton Beach, Florida, Hankerson was a top 100 player in the state and top 60 running back in the class of 2022. After tallying 1,178 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior, he was named the Sun Sentinel Broward County Offensive Player of the Year. As a senior, he ran for 1,057 yards and 22 touchdowns. He once again won the County Offensive Player of the Year award. Hankerson also competed in track & field, specifically in the 100m dash, in high school. Anthony Hankerson committed to Colorado over FIU, Arizona, and Georgia Tech.

College: Over two seasons with the Buffaloes, Hankerson ran for 593 yards and 4 touchdowns. After two seasons with minimal reps, Hankerson transferred to Oregon State. In 2024 for the Beavers, Hankerson ran for 1,082 yards and 15 touchdowns. Hankerson posted a second consecutive season with over 1,000 yards in 2025, with 1,086 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Strengths: Anthony Hankerson has consistently produced as a bell cow running back throughout his college career. He is a stocky runner who brings a lot of power with a low center of gravity to win the battle of leverage at the point of attack. He fights through contact well and keeps his legs churning when defenders are trying to bring him down. His strong lower half allows him to have elite contact balance; Hankerson is hard to bring down on initial contact. He pushes piles and has a knack for always falling forward for an extra yard or two. As a receiving threat, Hankerson is a respectable option. He is a natural hands catcher and does well to look the ball in before he turns up field.

Weaknesses: Hankerson is a smaller back with limited speed. He will not be able to impose his will with size, and he will not be able to turn the burners on to speed past defenders. He is limited in terms of explosive plays as he rarely gashes the defense for anything over 25 yards. Hankerson is not a pushover in pass protection, but his smaller stature makes him a liability for bigger edge rushers. Long arms give him issues off the edge.

Conclusion: Anthony Hankerson will not have the same role of an every down back in the NFL, but he can be a meaningful piece in a committee. He is a reliable option with a high floor. You know what you will get from Hankerson each carry and you can gameplan around that.
