School: Arizona State
Class: Redshirt Junior
Position: WR
HT: 6’2
WT: 200 lbs
Background: Jordyn Tyson was a 3-star wide receiver out of Allen, Texas. Tyson was not ranked as a top 200 WR in his class or even a top 200 player in the state of Texas. Jordyn comes from an athletic family as his brother, Jaylon, was a 1st round pick in the NBA Draft and currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers. At Allen High School, Tyson was the top offensive weapon while also returning kicks. He led Allen to a top 10 ranking in Texas. Jordyn also played basketball in high school. Jordyn had limited offers out of high school and committed to play for the only Power 5 school that offered him, Colorado.
College: Tyson immediately made an impact for Colorado as a true freshman in 2022. He had 22 catches and led the team with 470 yards and a total of 5 touchdowns on the season. After a coaching overhaul in Colorado, Tyson transferred to Arizona State ahead of the 2023 season. Tyson did not record any stats in his first year at Arizona State, utilizing a redshirt. However, in 2024, he exploded onto the scene. Tyson was named the 2024 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and got a Third Team All-American selection after recording 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. Unfortunately, Tyson sustained an injury that kept him out of the postseason in late November. In 2025 for the Sun Devils, injuries limited him to 9 games but he still made a huge impact. Tyson tallied 61 receptions for 711 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was an All-Big 12 selection in his final collegiate season.
Strengths: Jordyn Tyson is a perfect blend of size and speed as a wide receiver that makes him such a mismatch for any cornerback on the boundary. He has the prototypical size of an X receiver on the boundary but has the speed and quickness of a gadget slot receiver. This has allowed him to succeed both on the boundary, but also in the slot in certain packages. He is an incredibly fluid mover who gets in and out of his breaks with ease. Tyson is a walking gamechanger. He can run a go route and go win a contested deep ball 50 yards down the field while also being able to catch balls in the short areas and turn up field to gash defenses after the catch. His speed is put on full display when he has the ball in his hands. Tyson does well to work himself open as a sharp and smooth route runner. He does not chop his feet into his breaks and can cut on a dime. He sells fakes with fluid hips. He has an incredible stutter step on those stutter go routes to create separation on deep routes.
Weaknesses: Tyson catches the ball with his chest instead of his hands too often. He struggles to go outside of his frame to snag a football. Tyson doesn’t use his strength functionally when trying to gain separation off the line of scrimmage. He gets jammed by stronger press corners. It is also worth noting that Tyson has suffered two significant injuries, including a knee injury. His durability is a red flag.
Conclusion: Jordyn Tyson is everything you could ask for from a wide receiver. That combination of size and speed does not come around in a single prospect frequently. He is a savvy route runner which is also a rarity for a receiver of his size. He does not rely solely on one elite trait but combines all of his strengths to create a big mismatch.
