The New England Patriots are one of the main teams that have buzz around them to make a big jump in performance from 2024 to 2025. From killing the draft to making big splash free agent signings, their roster will certainly look different this upcoming season. They had a large talent influx over the spring, but can it be enough to contend for a playoff spot? At the time of writing, their over/under for wins in 2025 sits at 8.5. They could double their win total from 2024 and still not hit the over. Are Vegas and the NFL media too high on the Patriots’ 2025 outlook? Probably, but they are on an exciting path.

Departures: I prefer to get the negatives out of the way and over with early. So let us take a look at who the Patriots lost in the offseason. The list is rather short, as the only players who they lost to free agency include QB Jacoby Brissett, CB Jonathan Jones, IDL Davon Godchaux, and IDL Deatrich Wise. While all of these players brought value to the Patriots’ roster, it is easy to say that the front office and coaching staff will be able to replace that talent quickly.

Additions: Through free agency, the Patriots brought in several players on multi-year contracts. WRs Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins, OT Morgan Moses, EDGE Harold Landry, IDL Milton Williams, and CB Carlton Davis all signed multi-year deals. The Patriots also brought in notable players such as IOL Garrett Bradbury and EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson (amongst others) on one year contracts.

Draft Selections: It is a general consensus that the Patriots had a phenomenal draft. They were able to attack their needs with impressive efficiency. Their offense was completely overhauled through the draft as LT Will Campbell, WR Kyle Williams, and RB TreVeyon Henderson will all be looked at as starters in September.

The roster overhaul this past offseason was impressive, but how will it translate to the gridiron? Let’s take a look at the Patriots’ schedule and make our predictions.

Season Predictions: The Patriots start the season in September where they host the Raiders, go on the road to play the Dolphins, before finishing the month at home against the Steelers and the Panthers. The Patriots will finish September with a 2-2 record.

The Patriots start October on Sunday Night Football in Buffalo against the Bills, travel to New Orleans to play the Saints, then clash with the Titans in Tennessee, and then finish the month at home against the Browns. The Patriots go 2-2 in this stretch.

New England begins November at home against the Falcons, then go on the road to play the Bucs before returning home to take on the Jets on Thursday Night Football, and then finish the month on the road against the Bengals. The Patriots will go 1-3 in the month of November.

The final stretch of the season sees the Patriots host the Giants before a Week 14 bye. They then host the Bills, then have two straight road games against the Ravens and Jets, and cap off the season against the Dolphins at home. The Patriots go 2-3 in this final stretch of the season.

Conclusion: I have the New England Patriots finishing the 2025 season with a record of 7-10. 7 wins is a huge step in the right direction for the Patriots. One more offseason of roster construction and development of young talent could make them a real contender in the AFC.
