The Jacksonville Jaguars have been on a downward spiral ever since their comeback wild card victory over the Chargers in January of 2023. Coming into the 2025 offseason, they hired a new GM in James Gladstone and HC Liam Cohen. Cohen headed a Buccaneers’ offense in 2024 that exceeded all expectations and he is looking to allow Trevor Lawrence to take that next step.

Departures: In an important offseason for the organization, they cut plenty of loose fat from the roster. They parted ways with WRs Gabe Davis, Josh Reynolds, and Devin Duvernay, TEs Evan Engram and Luke Farrell, IOL Brandon Scherff, C Mitch Morse, and SAF Andre Cisco. They also traded away WR Christian Kirk within the division to the Houston Texans as a salary dump.

Additions: Cohen and Gladstone had a plan for the roster and they put it into motion early in their tenure. They brought in QB Nick Mullens, TE Hunter Long, OT Robert Hainsey, CB Jourdan Lewis, and SAF Eric Murray all on multi-year deals. They also brought in OT Chuma Edoga, IOL Patrick Mekari, EDGE Emmanuel Ogbah, and WR Dyami Brown on one-year contracts.

Draft Selections: In the draft, they made the biggest splash of Day 1 by giving up a handful of picks to trade up for No. 2 overall to select Travis Hunter. Their plan is to let him play both CB and WR, but the length of an NFL season plus the increased physicality may be a rude awakening for him. Due to that trade, the Jaduars did not pick again until the 3rd round, where they selected Tulane CB Caleb Ransaw, a move that is viewed as a reach for the slot he was picked. Other notable selections by the team include IOL Wyatt Milum, C Jonah Monheim, RB Bhayshul Tuten, and LB Jack Kiser.

Season Predictions: The Jaguars start the season hosting the Panthers before going on the road to take on the Bengals, come back to Jacksonville to play host to the Texans, and end September in San Francisco against the 49ers. The Jaguars go 1-3 in September.

They make their primetime debut in Week 5 on Monday Night Football at home against the Chiefs. They have a home game against the Seahawks and take on the Rams in England before a Week 8 bye to close out October. Jacksonville will go 0-3 in that span.

November starts with two road games against the Raiders and Texans before they return home to battle the Chargers. After that quick stop at home, they have two more road dates against the Cardinals and Titans. They go 2-3 in November.

They have two home games to start December against the Colts and Jets, then go on the road to the Mile High City to take on the Broncos and Indianapolis to play the Colts. The Jags finish the season at home against the Titans. In this final stretch, the Jaguars go 3-2.

Final Thoughts: I have the Jacksonville Jaguars finishing the 2025 season with a record of 6-11. If Lawrence takes a serious step in the right direction, we could see the team potentially get up to 9 wins. A 6-win season may not be enough for them to blow up this rebuild, but it will raise concerns heading into year 2 of the Cohen/Gladstone regime.
