School: Ole Miss
Class: Redshirt Senior
Position: QB
HT: 6’1
WT: 200 lbs
Background: Trinidad Chambliss was an unranked quarterback out of Grand Rapids, Michigan in the 2021 class. As a senior for Forest Hills Northern High School, Chambliss threw for 1,610 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was a 2020 AP All-State selection and was an all-conference QB. Chambliss chose to play for Ferris State out of high school.
College: He spent 4 years at Ferris State, leading them to their third national title in 4 years in 2024. 2024 saw Chambliss finish third in most outstanding player voting. After 4 impressive seasons with Ferris State, Chambliss transferred to Ole Miss to get the SEC experience. Expecting just to be the backup, injuries to teammates gave Chambliss the opportunity to play. He took over and didn’t look back, passing for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for over 500 yards. These numbers were good enough to have Chambliss named an All-SEC Second Team selection.
Strengths: Trinidad’s most striking strength is his mobility. A play is never dead when Chambliss is at the helm. Coverage may have the receivers locked down, but that is when Chambliss gashes the defense with his legs. He has shake to his game and can make defenders miss in open space. While where he goes and how he gets there may be unpredictable, he is a smart runner and secure ball carrier. As a pure passer, Chambliss can access all areas of the field exceptionally well. He can throw the deep ball on a rope as he has a cannon for an arm. Not only can he launch the deep ball, but he can drop it in a bucket where only his man can get it. Trinidad executes the quick game well, getting the ball out quickly to the hot route when the game script calls for it.
Weaknesses: Chambliss has a smaller frame, which could present more issues in the pros than it did in college. Trinidad struggles with the easy throws more than the deep ball and surgical throws. He tends to lose focus or get ahead of his mechanics on plays that should be viewed as a sure thing. He seems to rely too heavily on his legs. This tendency results in Chambliss abandoning too many clean pockets.
Conclusion: Trinidad Chambliss saw his value skyrocket in one year. Due to a small sample size, Chambliss may need time to develop as a backup in the NFL. He won’t be ready to come into the league and perform for a winning team.
