School: Miami

Class: Junior

Position: EDGE

HT: 6’3

WT: 270 lbs

Background: Rueben Bain was a consensus 4-star recruit out of Miami, Florida. Bain attended Miami Central High School, a Florida powerhouse program. Baiin was part of a dynasty at Miami Central as a leader of a defense that won 4 straight state titles. He was a top 10 defensive end and top 100 player in the 2023 class. Rueben was a MaxPreps Junior All-American in 2021 and won the Nat Moore Award as south Florida’s best player as a senior in 2022. After his senior season, Rueben was selected to participate in the Under Armour All-American Game. Reuben Bain Jr. chose to stay home and play for Miami over Florida State, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Auburn.

College: Bain earned ACC Rookie of the Year honors in 2023 after totaling 12.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. These numbers were good enough to earn him All-ACC Third Team and Freshman All-American honors. Bain was dominant again as a sophomore in 2024. Despite missing 4 games, Bain still earned All-ACC honorable mention recognition with 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. In 2025, Bain was an All-American, All-ACC First Team selection, and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. These accolades came from a year in which Bain posted 15.5 TFLs and 9.5 sacks.

Strengths: Bain has been a dominant presence on the edge for his entire career. He wins in a variety of ways, but his strength off the edge is most evident. He can win with a nasty bull rush to run through offensive tackles. He combines his unmatched strength with eyepopping bend on the edge. His ankle flexion is ridiculous, allowing him to get low and under his opponent to slip into the backfield and make a play. He attacks the edge with violent and heavy hands. His entire body is in sync as each step works with each punch to create for an overwhelming rush. Bain does well to deconstruct blocks in the phone booth with hand chops and a deep pass rush repertoire, but he also has a lethal jab that consistently knocks tackles off their anchor.

Weaknesses: Rueben Bain measured in at the combine with historically short arms. It is evident on tape that he does not have the length to combat longer edge rushers. As a run defender, Bain does not take optimal pursuit angles in open space. He is not overly effective as a run defender as he tends to get swallowed up by run blockers in space.

Conclusion: Rueben Bain Jr. is a disruptive pass rusher who can get into the backfield in a flash. He has a deep bag of tricks, winning in a variety of ways. His arm length is a big concern, but Bain has the talent to overcome it. Bain should be looked at as a top 10 pick and instant impact player.
