School: Indiana

Class: Redshirt Junior

Position: WR

HT: 6’0

WT: 204 lbs

Background: Omar Cooper Jr. is a homegrown talent out of Indianapolis. Cooper was a 3-star wide receiver for Lawrence North High School. He was a top 15 player in Indiana and a top 100 wide receiver in the 2022 class. Omar was an all-conference player who led North Lawrence to a title as a senior. Throughout his high school career, Cooper totaled 132 receptions for 2,856 yards and 22 touchdowns. Omar Cooper Jr. chose to stay home and play for Indiana over the likes of West Virginia, Iowa, Wisconsin, and others.

College: Cooper redshirted his freshman year in 2022 and saw limited reps in 2023. He totaled 18 receptions for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns. 2024 saw Cooper break out for the Hoosiers. He tallied 28 catches for 594 yards and 7 touchdowns for a team that made the college football playoff in a huge program turnaround. Cooper was a member of the 2025 championship-winning Indiana Hoosiers. Cooper was a Second Team All-Big 10 selection after snagging 69 receptions for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Strengths: Omar Cooper Jr. has elite hands. He can catch just about anything that is thrown to him. Cooper has a large catch radius and almost acts like a vacuum to bring in the football, no matter where it is thrown. When the ball is thrown away from his body, Cooper shows off impressive body control and contorts himself in ways that improve his chances of making a catch. Cooper tracks the ball well in all three areas of the field. He does well to complete the process of the catch and looking the ball in before turning up the field to become a runner. As a runner, Cooper is creative and slippery in open space. He does plenty of damage with the ball in his hands. On deep routes, Cooper tracks the ball well over his shoulder consistently.

Weaknesses: Cooper is quick and creates separation, but he is not an effective route runner. He rounds off his routes and needs to sharpen his technique at the break of his routes. Cooper is a lackluster blocker. He allows defensive backs to shed him rather quickly to bring outside runs to a screeching halt.

Conclusion: Omar Cooper Jr. can become a reliable target both on the boundary and in the slot. He has some of the best hands in the class and can win at all three levels. His route running needs some technical refinement, and he is not a productive blocker.
