School: Florida
Class: Redshirt Senior
Position: IOL
HT: 6’4
WT: 303 lbs
Background: Jake Slaughter was a 3-star offensive guard out of Sparr, Florida. Slaughter played for Trinity Catholic and was a 2019 all-county first team selection. Slaughter was a top 50 interior offensive lineman in the 2021 class. Jake chose to play for Florida over schools such as Florida State, Auburn, and Arkansas.
College: Slaughter redshirted in 2021 and was a special teams contributor in 2022. In 2023, Slaughter started 8 games at center. Slaughter was a team captain and the leader of the offensive line in 2024. He started every game at center and was named an All-SEC selection by multiple outlets. He was also named an All-American by PFF and ESPN. 2025 was more of the same from Slaughter as he started every game at center as the leader of the line. This led to Slaughter being an All-American and All-SEC First Team selection.
Strengths: Jake Slaughter has a firm anchor in pass protection. He invites contact and absorbs power extremely well for the position. He specializes in handling those beefier 1 techs and completely taking them out of the play. He keeps the pocket clean up the middle to allow the quarterback to have clean vision down the field. He gets low and wins the leverage battle consistently. Jake never stops moving his legs in the run game. He displaces defenders to clear rushing lanes for the ball carrier. He shows off his movement skills by getting to the second level to clear linebackers. He can also pull to seal off the edge in the run game as a lead blocker. As a two-time team captain and a guy who consistently stays on the field, Slaughter can take command of an offensive line unit and a locker room.
Weaknesses: Slaughter reaches too much in the phonebooth. His footwork can become stagnant, allowing defenders to work around his body rather than forcing them to go through him. He is overeager in open space as a run blocker, attempting to throw his body around to clear space instead of landing clean blocks.
Conclusion: Jake Slaughter is an elite center prospect who can be the captain of an offensive line even as a young player. He performs as both a run blocker and in pass protection at a high level. He needs to connect cleaner at the second level, but he is still an effective people mover.
