School: Wake Forest

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: OT

HT: 6’5

WT: 317 lbs

Background: Fa’alili Fa’amoe was a 3-star recruit out of American Samoa in the class of 2020. Fa’amoe was a top 1,200 player in the class and was the highest ranked player out of American Samoa. Fa’amoe attended Leone High School in Pago Pago and was a team captain as a senior. After his senior season, Fa’amoe was selected to participate in the Polynesian Bowl. Fa’alili Fa’amoe chose to play for Washington State over Hawai’i.

College: Fa’alili maintained his freshman status through the COVID season and by utilizing his redshirt in 2021. In 2022, as a redshirt freshman, Fa’amoe switched to offensive tackle for the Cougars. He started at offensive tackle in 7 contests that season. 2023 saw Fa’alili start all 12 games at right tackle after being named to the Preseason All-Pac 12 Team. In 2024, Fa’amoe started 7 games for the Cougars at right tackle. After a solid career with Washington State, Fa’amoe transferred to Wake Forest for his final season of eligibility. Fa’amoe started 12 games and 700+ snaps for Wake Forest. He was an All-ACC Honorable Mention that season.

Strengths: Fa’alili Fa’amoe has impressive size. He has a healthy weight with a dense build to generate power at the point of attack. He has the length to longarm defenders in the phone both, getting into their frame to disrupt the rush. His lower body is both technically sound and firm. Once he anchors his feet to the turf, he will not get beat by power. It is rare that an opponent can outmuscle Fa’amoe. As a run blocker, Fa’amoe creates momentum with his legs before parting defenses like a wrecking ball.

Weaknesses: Fa’amoe does not have the foot quickness or recovery speed to keep defenders square in front of him. He does not do a good job of keeping his shoulders centered and can often get beat around the edge. He takes far too long to get set. He has a slow kick step that can leave him vulnerable on the edge. Edge rushers seem to consistently set the edge in one on one matchups. Any team that takes Fa’alili should consider a move to guard.

Conclusion: Fa’alili Fa’amoe has the strength and length profile of an NFL offensive lineman, but his overall technique is seriously lacking. He is currently classified as an offensive tackle but a move to guard seems imminent. Fa’amoe will be fighting in camp for a roster spot.
