School: Penn State

Class: Senior

Position: OT

HT: 6’5

WT: 305 lbs

Background: Drew Shelton was a top 150 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. Shelton is from Downingtown, PA and was ranked a top 3 player in the state and a top 15 offensive tackle in the country. Drew won a league championship with Downington West High School as a sophomore, while being a team captain in 2020 and 2021. Drew earned 2021 All-Great Lakes Region Team honors and was selected to play in the Under Armour All-American Game in 2022. Drew Shelton chose to stay home and play for Penn State over schools such as Florida, Michigan, and Notre Dame.

College: Drew made 5 starts at left tackle as a true freshman. He appeared in 13 games as a sophomore in 2023, but only one start. That was a year he was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Shelton started every game at left tackle for the Nittany Lions in 2024, earning All-Big 10 honorable mention. In 2025, Shelton played every game again and was once again an All-Big 10 Honorable Mention honoree.

Strengths: Drew Shelton is a long offensive tackle. He combines measurables with elite athleticism to win in a variety of ways. He has excellent foot speed and lateral agility to keep edge rushers square in front of him. He bursts off the line of scrimmage in the run game. He finishes through his assignment at the line before quickly finding his landmark at the second level. He takes good angles in space to cut off intersecting defenders. His movement skills also show up in different schemes as he is able to pull across the line or run zone running concepts where he can get out and move. Shelton’s versatility is a huge plus. He is able to play any of the 5 spots on the offensive line.

Weaknesses: Shelton seems to absorb contact in the run game rather than move or displace defenders. As a pass protector, Shelton gives up inside leverage. He gives up creases on his inside shoulder, allowing interior pressure to get through. Shelton has a leaner frame and will need to add significant mass to win at the next level.

Conclusion: Drew Shelton is an athletic and versatile offensive tackle who can win in more ways than one. Putting on muscle will be necessary and should help him with his leg drive as a run blocker. Shelton should be seen as a swing tackle who can develop into a starter towards the end of his rookie contract.
