Philadelphia won the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in the last decade. Howie Roseman has hand selected this roster, largely through the draft, to be as dominant as possible. It seems as though Roseman gets every draft selection correct year in and year out. Will their offseason moves be enough to let them repeat as champions?

Trades: The team made a few trades in the offseason to get some money off their books. To start, the Eagles sent QB Kenny Pickett to the Browns in exchange for Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 5th round pick. After the quick development of their young defensive backs, SAF CJ Gardner-Johnson did not really have a defined role on the defense. Howie Roseman traded Gardner-Johnson to the Texans for OL Kenyon Green. Later on in the summer, they trade EDGE Bryce Huff to the 49ers for a 2026 mid-round pick. During training camp, they traded depth DT Thomas Booker IV to the Raiders in exchange for Jakorien Bennett. Bennett is a cornerback who has shined in his first few years in the league, despite having no interceptions. He will be in the conversation to be CB2 or CB3 on the boundary and will certainly move ahead of Kelee Ringo on the depth chart.

Departures: Team legend Brandon Graham officially retired after the Super Bowl victory. Graham was not a huge contributor in 2024, but it is worth mentioning. In free agency, the Eagles lost RB Kenneth Gainwell, IOL Mekhi Becton, IOL Fred Johnson, EDGE Josh Sweat, DT Milton Williams, LB Oren Burks, CB Avonte Maddox, CB Isaiah Rodgers, and CB Darius Slay. This is certainly an extensive list of departures, but Roseman has built the team with so much depth and talent that Eagles fans should not be concerned.

Additions: GM Howie Roseman signed CB Adoree Jackson, EDGE Josh Uche, EDGE Azeez Ojulari, RB AJ Dillon, and TE Kylen Granson to one-year deals.

Draft Selections: In the draft, the Eagles are in a fortunate position to draft best player available every pick, regardless of position. With their first pick, they selected Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell. They have quite the positive history with SEC linebackers and Campbell looks to be next in line. In the 2nd round, the Eagles selected Clemson SAF Andrew Mukuba. If the Eagles want to keep Dejean at nickel, Mukuba could form a great safety tandem with Reid Blankenship. Other picks by Roseman that I believe can make an impact in 2025 include DT Ty Robinson, EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland, and LB Smael Mondon Jr.

Season Predictions: The Philadelphia Eagles will have a target on their back for every single game of the 2025 season after winning the Super Bowl. The Eagles host the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football for the very first game of the NFL season. They follow that up with a road game against Kansas City, a home game against the Rams in a playoff rematch, and a road date against the Buccaneers. The Eagles will start the season 3-1.

The champs start October by hosting the Broncos, go on the road for Thursday Night Football against the Giants, play the Vikings in Minnesota, and host the Giants to close out the month. The Eagles go 3-1 in October.

Philadelphia will enjoy a Week 9 bye before going on the road to play the Packers on Monday Night Football. They follow that by hosting the Lions, playing the Cowboys on the road, and playing host to the Bears on Black Friday. The Eagles go 3-1 in November.

December starts with a Monday Night Football matchup in Los Angeles against the Chargers. They play at home against the Raiders, on the road against the Commanders, play the Bills in Buffalo, and finish the year at home against the Commanders. The Eagles go 3-2 in this final stretch.

Final Thoughts: The Philadelphia Eagles will go 12-5 in the 2025 season. This record may not clinch them the top seed in the conference, but all they need is to get into the postseason and they can go the distance when healthy.
