The Baltimore Ravens seem to be one of the handful of AFC teams that cannot get over the hump of winning a Super Bowl despite having one of the best rosters in the league. They have had two MVP seasons from Lamar Jackson and one of the best defenses for years. In order to keep that Super Bowl window open, they need to fill in gaps in the roster with valuable additions and even valuable subtractions. After falling short to the Bills in the divisional round, the Ravens feel the pressure to make some noise in the playoffs finally.
Departures: The Ravens were lucky to retain most of the talent on their roster. They said goodbye to IOL Patrick Mecari, CB Tre White, IDL Michael Pierce, LB Malik Harrison, K Justin Tucker, SAF Marcus Williams and CB Brandon Stephens. Many of these players saw plenty of snaps but their contributions were not as positive as Baltimore had hoped entering the season.
Additions: Baltimore was backed up against the cap this offseason so they had to keep the spending to a minimum. They brought on incredible value deals with WR Deandre Hopkins and CB Jaire Alexander. They also brought in QB Cooper Rush to back up Lamar Jackson and added OT Joe Noteboom, CB Chidobie Awuzie, and IDL John Jenkins.
Draft Selections: The Ravens had one of the better drafts when looking at draft slot value. With their first two selections they took Georgia SAF Malaki Starks and Marshall EDGE Mike Green. It was common thought that both players would be gone before their first selection. If the off the field issues are not as serious as they seem to be, Mike Green may be the steal of the draft. Starks starting alongside Kyle Hamilton could instantly form the best safety duo in the NFL. Other notable picks include OL Emery Jones, LB Teddye Buchanan, and WR LaJohntay Webster.
Season Predictions: Baltimore starts the season on Sunday Night Football in Buffalo before returning home to host the Browns and the Lions on Monday Night Football. They end the month back on the road against the Chiefs. This is a fairly intimidating opening month with two extremely difficult road games. This team struggled to open up last season and I have them struggling to start again with a 2-2 record.
The Ravens open October with two games at home against the Texans and Rams before a Week 7 bye. They come off the bye to host the Bears and play the Dolphins in South Beach on Halloween Eve for TNF. The Ravens will go 3-1 in October.
They have back-to-back road dates against the Vikings and Browns to kick off November before hosting the Jets and spending Thanksgiving at home against the Bengals. The Ravens go 3-1 in November.
Baltimore has a final stretch of games that will have intense playoff implications. They start at home against the Steelers and on the road against the Bengals. They then host the Patriots and finish the season with two road dates against the Packers and Steelers. The Ravens go 3-2 in the final 5 games.
Conclusion: I have the Ravens ending the 2025 season with a 12-5 record. On the surface, this may be viewed as a disappointment, given the standards the team has created for themselves. However, the regular season no longer matters for Baltimore. Of course, it would be nice to get the 1 seed and a bye, but they need to win the division and take care of business in January no matter the record.
