Background: LaNorris Sellers was a 4-star quarterback out of Florence, South Carolina. Sellers was a top 20 QB and top 5 player in the state of South Carolina for the class of 2023. As a senior for South Florence High School, Sellers passed for nearly 3,000 yards and rushed for 1,338 yards. He was the quarterback of a team that won the state championship that year. LaNorris Sellers chose to stay home and play for South Carolina over Syracuse, Georgia Tech, and others.
College: As a true freshman in 2023, Sellers redshirted after appearing in 4 games for the Gamecocks. He burst onto the scene as a redshirt freshman in 2024. He played well enough to earn National Freshman of the Year honors. He was also named an All-SEC Third Team member. In 2025, Sellers did not reach the expectations that were thrust upon him. He started every game and passed for 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. After a disappointing season. Sellers elected to return to South Carolina for his fourth season.
Strengths: Lanorris Sellers has a cannon for an arm. He accesses throws 50+ yards down the field effortlessly. His arm strength also allows him to throw the ball with unmatched velocity. He delivers the football on a rope to his receivers. Pressure does not disrupt his ability to throw the deep ball either. He is able to deal with pursuing defenders in his field of vision and deliver a bomb right over their heads. He also has a good sense for a collapsing pocket to step through and make a big throw. Sellers hurts defenses with his running ability and pure athleticism. His frame and strength make it hard for defenders to bring him down, while his athleticism and shiftiness make it difficult for defenses to track him.
Weaknesses: Sellers does not make smart decisions with the football. The rate of turnover-worthy plays that he makes will not keep him afloat as a starter in the NFL. He tests double coverage with seemingly no plan. Sellers panics with pressure in his face, and while he has a lively arm, he puts the ball in harm’s way too often. Sellers does not scan the field well, moving far too slowly through his progressions. He can be seen getting stuck on his first read and locking his eyes on his target for too long.
Conclusion: Lanorris Sellers has rare physical traits which alone will make it compelling for NFL teams to take him. If he can work out the kinks in his game, Sellers can be a special player at the next level.
