Background: Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Vincent Anthony Jr. was a top 300 player in the 2022 class. He was a top 40 defensive lineman in the nation and a top 10 player in the state. Anthony played for C.E. Jordan High School, where he was a team captain and all-region selection. After his senior season, Vincent Anthony Jr. played in the All-American Bowl. Anthony committed to play for Duke over schools such as Georgia Tech, Indiana, and Ole Miss.
College: Vincent started in 12 games for the Blue Devils as a true freshman in 2022. He posted 28 tackles on the season and was also an Academic All-ACC selection. In 2023, played in more of a reserve role, tallying 4 TFLs and 2 sacks. He went back to his starting role in 2024. He tallied 9.5 TFLs and 5 sacks on the year. Vincent was an All-ACC honorable mention selection in 2025 after recording 13 TFLs and 7.5 sacks.
Strengths: Vincent Anthony Jr. is a long edge rusher with ideal measurables across the board for the position. He has a strong upper body to spear offensive tackles at the point of contact. His long arms allow him to initiate contact before opponents can sink their claws into his pads. Anthony moves well for his size. He has incredible bend to get around the edge and take good angles to the quarterback. Anthony plays with superb tempo, changing up his speed throughout a rush to rock his opponent back and forth. He has an explosive first step to get out in front of tackles and immediately stride into the backfield.
Weaknesses: Anthony has a weaker than expected lower body. He tends to get knocked off his rush relatively easily. Anthony doesn’t play with enough strength, relying strictly on athleticism to win. If a lineman lands a punch in Vincent’s chest, it seems to stun him and take him off his rhythm. His lateral agility, especially as a run defender, is weak. This leaves him susceptible to angle blocks in tight quarters.
Conclusion: Vincent Anthony Jr. is an explosive playmaker who instantly draws your attention when watching the tape. He has a nice frame with the athleticism to pair with it. His play strength can improve as he has not maxed out his frame. Adding some muscle without sacrificing his speed will be crucial to succeed in the NFL.
