School: Baylor

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: QB

HT: 6’4

WT: 220 lbs

Background: Sawyer Robertson was a 4-star quarterback out of Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. Sawyer’s father, Stan, was a first round draft pick of the Montreal Expos and his cousin is NFL QB Jarrett Stidham. Robertson was a top 200 overall player and top 20 quarterback in the class of 2021. Robertson won Texas Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior. He ranks in the top 10 in the history of Texas High School football in just about every statistical category for a quarterback. On top of his success on the football field, Sawyer was also an academic all-state selection. Out of high school, Robertson committed to Mississippi State over Arkansas, Arizona State, Wisconsin, and Texas.

College: Robertson saw limited action at Mississippi State. Redshirting in 2021 and transferring to Baylor before the 2023 season. Sawyer was primarily a backup as a redshirt sophomore in his first year at Baylor. Robertson took over the starting job in the 3rd game of the 2024 season. He put up stats that will go down in the Baylor history books despite playing thru an injury. In 2025, Robertson did not have the breakout many expected but still put together a Third Team All-Big 12 campaign. That was a year in which he threw for 3,681 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Strengths: Sawyer Robertson has the ability to throw the ball with incredible velocity but can also reel that back to throw it with some touch. He can access all three areas of the field with ease. He gets the ball past the second level of defenders by layering it over them with incredible touch. His arm allows him to throw the ball on a rope to the third level, as well. He is a very strong pocket passer as he has a good feel and sense for the pocket and how it is developing around him. His footwork to evade pressure makes it difficult for rushers to wrap him up on initial contact. Robertson has a quick release that makes it difficult for any pressure to get home on time. He also does well with his legs as a runner. He does not ditch the pass for his legs too early, but when he does, he gashes the defense for chunks at a time.

Weaknesses: While Robertson displays excellent arm talent, there is a lack of consistency with ball placement. On those throws 20+ yards down the field, his accuracy takes a significant dip. His lower half mechanics on deeper throws needs significant work. Too often he is planting off his back foot to launch the football down the field instead of setting a strong throwing platform.

Conclusion: Robertson sticks out as one of the better quarterback options in his class. He has all the physical tools to succeed at the next level, combined with the proven leadership skills to command a huddle as soon as he arrives. If his mechanics can be smoothed out, he can turn into a solid NFL starter.
