School: Arizona State

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: OT

HT: 6’6

WT: 330 lbs

Background: Max Iheanachor was a completely unrecruited offensive tackle out of King Drew High School in Los Angeles, California. As a player in the class of 2021, Iheanachor went the JUCO route with East Los Angeles College.

College: In two years with East LA, Iheanachor refined his craft and played both tackle positions. He became a 4-star JUCO prospect and eventually committed to play for Arizona State ahead of the 2023 season. He was thrust into the starting lineup in his first season with the Sun Devils due to injuries. In over 200 pass blocking snaps, Iheanachor did not allow a sack. In 2024, Iheanachor cemented himself as the starting left tackle. He was a key piece in a rushing attack that got the Sun Devils to the CFP. Iheanachor was a First Team All-Big 12 selection in 2025 as a redshirt senior.

Strengths: Max Iheanachor is a graceful mover for his size. He is an excellent run blocker who can get out in space or pull in zone concepts to seal the edge before finding his landmarks at the second level. His feet serve him well in pass protection as he has the recovery quickness to get himself back into any play and make a block in a collapsing pocket. He has the foot fire to keep defenders square in front of him and mirror rushes.

Weaknesses: He has inconsistent grip strength that shows up especially as a run blocker. He has poor sustainability when moving in space, leaving him susceptible to getting beat to the ball. As a pass protector, he gets beat on his inside shoulder on a regular basis. His kick step is almost too wide, leaving enough of a crease for defenders to attack.

Conclusion: Max Iheanachor is a big human being with plenty of mass and strength to win in the phone booth. He moves better than anyone at his size, attacking the second level efficiently. He has some kinks in his pass protection technique to make him a more well-rounded player, but with proper scheme fit and coaching, he can reach a high ceiling. He is a candidate to kick inside to guard at the next level.
