School: Pitt

Class: Redshirt Junior

Position: LB

HT: 6’0

WT:220 lbs

Background: Kyle Louis was a 3-star linebacker out of East Orange, New Jersey. Louis helped East Orange to an undefeated season and a regional championship. Kyle was a First Team All-New Jersey player and was a top 10 player in the state. Kyle Louis committed to Pitt over Maryland, Penn State, and others.

College: Louis redshirted in 2022 and was used in a reserve role in 2023. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, being named an All-American by multiple outlets. He was also a First Team All-ACC selection while finishing third for ACC Defensive Player of the Year after posting 101 tackles, 15.5 TFLs, and 7 sacks. Kyle was a Second Team All-ACC selection in 2025 with 81 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, and 3 sacks.

Strengths: Kyle Louis is an elite mover for the linebacker position. He has the ability to change directions on a dime. He has elite ankle flexion and lateral agility, allowing him to get anywhere on the field on any rep. He is one of the faster linebackers in the class, showcasing an ability to keep up with tight ends in man coverage. Louis has oily hips in coverage to match a variety of route concepts. His movement directly translates to his ability as a blitzer. He dips his shoulder low and slips around the edge to get into the backfield. Against the run, Louis has the patience to wait for the ball carrier to commit to a rushing lane before he triggers. He the speed that allows him to sit back and wait for the runner to commit before attacking.

Weaknesses: Louis is tremendously undersized. He lacks the sand in his pants to rush the passer with any consistent success. His lower half does not have the strength to generate knockback in the phone booth. He falls in between the classification of a safety and a linebacker. When he meets the ball carrier at the point of attack, his lack of strength does not allow him to deliver a pop on impact. He is more so forced to wrestle his man to the ground. His tackling is a concern as he cannot level someone to the ground and wrestling the ball carrier to the ground leaves room for extra yards to be gained.

Conclusion: Kyle Louis is a rangy linebacker who can get from sideline to sideline. He has plus coverage skills and will best be deployed as an off-ball linebacker in standard 4-3 defenses. Louis will struggle to hold his own as a run defender and his frame may already be maxed out.
