School: Auburn

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: IOL

HT: 6’5

WT: 331 lbs

Background: Jeremiah Wright was a 3-star offensive guard out of Selma, Alabama. Wright was a top 50 guard and a top 30 player in the state in the class of 2020. Wright was an all-county lineman for Selma High School. In addition to football, Wright also played baseball. Jeremiah Wright committed to Auburn over Georgia Tech.

College: Wright transitioned from offensive line to defensive tackle when he got to campus. His first two collegiate seasons included being a reserve defensive tackle and rehabbing from offseason surgery. Ahead of the 2022 season, Wright moved back to guard. He was a backup in 2022 and 2023 before becoming the starter in 2024. He started every game for the Tigers in his final two collegiate seasons, becoming one of the best guards in the SEC.

Strengths: Jeremiah Wright is a monster of an offensive lineman. He uses his wide frame to keep defenders square and in front of his chest. He has the density to form a brick wall on the interior. He has the wingspan of over 33 inches to long-arm defenders in the phone booth. Wright displays significant knockback at the point of attack. He explodes into the chest of opponents to knock them off their rush and put them on their heels. Wright has a level of nastiness to his game. He finishes blocks well and puts opponents in the dirt with ease. In pass protection, his anchor is firm. Defenders have difficulty walking him into the backfield. He moves well for his size, as he can be seen pulling to seal off the edge in the run game.

Weaknesses: Wright tends to lunge in open space on angle blocks or down blocks. He relies on his length and tries to initiate contact, taking himself off balance. In pass protection, Wright has erratic punches that can get out of control. He misses his mark, allowing the defender to attack his chest. He is not fast enough to consistently blow up landmarks in the second level. Linebackers have the opportunity to work around him and still get to the football.

Conclusion: Jeremiah Wright is a large guard who provides physicality and strength at the line of scrimmage that is difficult to beat. His movement is relatively limited, but he is still effective in close quarters. If his upper body technique in pass protection can improve, Wright could become a valuable NFL starter.
