School: Alabama
Class: Senior
Position: RB
HT: 5’10
WT: 221 lbs
Background: Jam Miller was a top 100 recruit in the 2022 class out of Tyler, Texas. Miller was a 4-star running back and top 5 player at the position in his class. Miller attended Tyler Legacy High School, where he holds the record for career rushing yards with just under 5,000. As a senior, he ran for 1,355 yards and 13 touchdowns. After high school, Miller chose to play for Alabama over Texas and Texas A&M.
College: Miller ran for 233 yards as a true freshman in 2022. 2023 was more of the same for Jam as he ran for 201 yards. In 2024, Miller took over as the primary running back for the Crimson Tide. He rushed for 668 yards and 7 touchdowns. Jam missed the first three games of the 2025 campaign with an upper-body injury. He came back and took a huge step forward as a pure runner. On the season, he finished with 504 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Strengths: Jam Miller has spectacular vision in the backfield. He is a patient runner who waits for the gaps to develop in front of him. He is hard to keep track of behind the line as he can work himself open with slight wiggle before attacking a hole. Despite having that bigger frame, he is lighter on his feet than you might expect. Those jump cuts and his ability to change direction on a dime are what makes him so dangerous. As a downhill runner, Miller packs a punch. Defenders have to be ready to absorb a lot of power at the point of attack. He can plow through defenders and keep his legs churning through contact. He gets low to maintain that advantageous center of gravity through his runs.
Weaknesses: Miller is just not an explosive athlete. He has a lack of speed that prevents him from being a real home run threat. He will not go breaking off any 50+ yard runs. He gets hawked down too consistently by much faster defenders. He has no pass catching upside. He does minimal damage as a receiver and has a limited route tree. While his elusiveness is evident in the backfield, he does not make defenders miss in open space. He struggles to shake tacklers.
Conclusion: Jam Miller can be used in short yardage and goal to go situations at the next level. He should not be relied upon as an every down back and should be viewed as more of a role specific player. If he is given the opportunity to play in the proper scheme, we could see his skillset flourish.
