School: Texas A&M

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: EDGE

HT: 6’3

WT: 248 lbs

Background: Cashius Howell was a low 3-star athlete in the 2021 class out of Kansas City, Missouri. Howell played for Rockhurst High School, where he recorded a total of 21 sacks and 150 tackles. Howell also played basketball for Rockhurst. Cashius Howell committed to Bowling Green out of high school over Wyoming, NDSU, and others.

College: Over his career with Bowling Green, Howell tallied 13 TFLs and 11 sacks. He was named a Third Team All-MAC selection in 2023 after recording 9.5 sacks. After that All-MAC campaign, Howell transferred to play for Texas A&M. In his first year with the Aggies, Howell recorded 8.5 TFLs and 4 sacks. In 2025, Cashius Howell recorded 14 TFLs and 11.5 sacks on his way to a First Team All-SEC selection.

Strengths: Howell is a disruptive edge rusher with explosive violence off the line of scrimmage. Howell creates panic by his opponents by getting into their pads before they can get set. He consistently beats tackles around the edge with that quick first step. Even the best kick step can’t match Howell’s explosiveness, as he can set the edge with ease. Howell has active hands in the phone booth to deconstruct blocks and keep linemen off his pads. Howell’s movement ability directly translates to pass coverage as he can be seen dropping back in lighter zone coverage concepts.

Weaknesses: Howell does not have ideal measurements for an edge rusher. His short arms cause him to get swallowed up by longer offensive tackles in the phone booth. As a run defender, he doesn’t have the lower body strength to set contain and clog gaps. His toolkit as a pass rusher is relatively limited. Cashius relies on a select few moves to win a majority of his reps.

Conclusion: Cashius Howell is a violent edge rusher with the burst to overwhelm opponents. His measurables leave much to be desired, but he wins in other ways. Howell will be limited in overall snap share due to his lack of run defending prowess, but he can be an elite pass rusher.
